Global Travel Tech firm 'OYO' completes G6 Hospitality acquisition

For $525 million, the global travel technology company OYO purchased G6 Hospitality, the company behind the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, from Blackstone Real Estate.

OYO's EBITDA is expected to reach over 2,000 crore ($238 million) in FY26 as a result of the deal. It is anticipated that Motel 6 will generate over 630 crore ($75 million) in EBITDA during the upcoming fiscal year, which will mark the first complete year of its integration.

By adding roughly 1,500 franchised hotels to its portfolio in the US and Canada, the acquisition greatly increases OYO's footprint in North America. It is estimated that the combined company will have a Gross Booking Value of about $3 billion, of which $1.7 billion will come from G6 Hospitality.

By means of strategic acquisitions, OYO has increased its footprint in Europe under the name OYO Vacation Homes (OVH). Europe is one of OYO's main markets, with more than 184,000 properties spread throughout the continent, the US, the UK, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Among the company's offerings is DanCenter, a vacation rental management firm that oversees 12,000 properties in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. DanCenter has doubled its market share and revenue since being acquired in 2019, solidifying its position as one of Denmark's top vacation rental companies.

OVH’s brands include Traum-Ferienwohnungen, an online vacation rental platform with 100,000 homes, and Belvilla, which manages 65,000 holiday homes in 20 countries.

By purchasing Direct Booker in Croatia (3,200 homes) in 2022 and, most recently, CheckMyGuest, a high-end vacation rental business with headquarters in Paris, the company further bolstered its presence in Europe.
